Skin Tips
Don't be tempted to turn the heat up!
It's cold outside but don't be tempted to turn up the shower or run the bath hotter. Increasing the heat increases skin dryness. Turning up the temperature washes the body's natural protective layer of oils and results in dry, scaly and lacklustre skin... And if that's not reason enough, keeping the body 'a little bit cold' is said to help increase metabolism - which may burn more calories.......
KIWI C
For an extra boost of vitamin C, try a Kiwi fruit a day - including the skin - this little furry fruit is reported to be the most densly packed with goodness.....keeping your skin happy and healthy.
Exfoliate! Exfoliate! Exfoliate!
Get the most out of your skincare. Make sure you exfoliate regularly to get the best levels of absorption from your skin oils and moisturisers - if it has to fight through layers of dull, dead skin cells to get to your body it will be exhausted by the time it arrives and won't do the best job, wasted product and wasted effort...

DETOX Recipe

OK, here goes!  The first recipe I am blogging was chosen because my sister texted me from Sainsburys' today to get the recipe - we had it at a family weekend, and believe me, if she likes it then it must be delicious as she is a bit of a foodie!  In fact it went down well with everyone, including the children.

It is taken from DELIA SMITHS Winter Collection - I know, I've had it ages and it's a staple.

It's the Salsa part of the Winter Black Bean Chilli recipe (ignore the chilli bit and just tuck into the salsa when Detoxing) I use it as a side salad or for lunch I mix with short grain brown rice and if I'm particularly hungry then I add tuna or salmon or smoked mackerel....

So (serves 4)

2 large firm tomatoes peeled, deeseeded and chopped (pour boiling water over toms and wait 1 min and the skins peel of easily)

1 ripe firm avocado, peeled and diced

1 small red onion peeled and diced

large handful of fresh coriander leaves, stalks removed

Juice of a lime and a few drops of Tabasco plus fresh black pepper.

Mix all together in a bowl and tuck in.  It will keep in the fridge and shouldn't go soggy if you make sure you peel and deseed the toms first.

Are avocados on the list of foods that can be eaten. I'm reading your book at the moment. From reading your blog you are continually modifying and updating as you learn new things :-)
