What are the different types of scar?
Scars are the body’s natural way of healing and replacing lost or damaged skin. It’s usually made of fibrous tissue that forms as a result of injury, surgery, skin stretching, inflammation or infection. They can appear anywhere on the body, including the face, and they can look different.

Some scars are flat whereas others can be raised or lumpy. They can vary in colour and change over time too. How they heal depends on your skin type, where the scar is, how it was caused, age and lifestyle. There are lots of different types of scars but here are a few of the most common :

● Keloid scars are thick, rounded, irregular clusters of scar tissue that grow at the site of a wound on the skin, but beyond the edges of the borders of the wound. They often appear red or darker than the surrounding normal skin. Keloids are formed from collagen that the body produces after a wound has healed. They occur more often in people with darker skin tones.

● Hypertrophic scars are similar to keloid scars except their growth is confined within the boundaries of the original wound. These scars may also look red, and are usually thick and raised. Hypertrophic scars usually start to develop within weeks after the injury to the skin.

● Contractures happen when a large area of skin is damaged and lost, resulting in a scar. The scar formation pulls the edges of the skin together, causing a tight area of skin. The decrease in the size of the skin can then affect the muscles, joints, and tendons, causing a decrease in movement.

Intense Oil Nourishing Facial Oil uses rose canina fruit oil to work on scars naturally and without essential oils. With natural levels of tretinoin and all-trans retinoic acid - a precursor of retinol - it helps the skin to regenerate and renew. It’s also high in essential fatty acids, with 44% linoleic acid, to moisturise and nourish the skin.

"I used this about 4 years ago and was thrilled. I decided to try it again and am amazed at how brightening and lifting it is. I look like I’ve had the best night’s sleep and shaved off 5-10 years in a week of using it. Truthfully I’ve been overworking and under sleeping so this product is a blessing "

"My go to oil when I need a little extra. This oil is helps when you need extra nourishment and smoothing. I'm lucky not to get many spots but I find that when I get a spot time to time its fabulous at working to reduce any flare up and reducing those pesky marks that spots leave behind. "
